Ed Armstrong brings more than 25 years
of experience to his public relations practice. His career
includes successful stints as a senior vice president at
a major PR firm, trade association executive, congressional
aide and broadcaster. He provides counsel to clients ranging
from corporate CEOs, to trade associations, to government
agencies and issue groups.
Armstrong stresses the importance of sticking to message, managing
the media and mastering the interview in his practice. By leveraging
his real-life experience in hundreds of advocacy issues, he provides
the strategic guidance and tactical execution needed to accomplish
complex and demanding communications objectives. Armstrong specializes
in finding messages that resonate with audiences from the media
to legislators and using highly-creative vehicles to disseminate
his clients’ message.
Armstrong got his start in the field of communications as newspaper
writer in 1977. Five years later, he broke into broadcasting and
subsequently served in a variety of positions in television and
radio. He further honed his understanding of the media and government
during his service on Capitol Hill as a press secretary and committee
staffer. Prior to starting his own company in 2002, Armstrong was
a senior vice president with Goddard Claussen Porter Novelli, a
highly-respected international public relations firm.
After a career on Capitol Hill, Armstrong became the Director of
Public and Congressional Affairs of the Synthetic Organic Chemical
Manufacturers Association (SOCMA). Armstrong made good use of his
journalistic background there by launching the SOCMA Media and
Crisis Communications Program.
